The Claremont Colleges Advantage
Pitzer is part of The Claremont Colleges, a unique consortium of seven academic institutions that gives you the resources of a large university while enjoying the personalized learning of a small liberal arts college
Each of the colleges and universities that make up the The Claremont Colleges Consortium boasts distinct academic departments, research centers, institutes, cultural opportunities and recreational and gathering spaces.
Across The Claremont Colleges Consortium
Seven Institutions. Boundless Resources.
The Claremont Colleges Consortium is composed of five undergraduate colleges and two graduate schools. Collectively, they are known as the “7Cs.”
Academics
Pitzer students are Claremont Colleges students, too. So, in addition to our wide-ranging on-campus curriculum, you’ll be able to take more than 2,100 courses across the five undergraduate colleges in the consortium. A typical Pitzer student takes half their classes at Pitzer, 40% at the other 5Cs, and 10% in the Department of Natural Sciences.
The Claremont Colleges Library
The academic heart of the 5C consortium, The Claremont Colleges Library provides study spaces, events, and research assistance to the 5Cs’ 2,130 students. And with a collection comprising more than 2.7 million items, it’s also one of the largest academic libraries in California.

“One of my favorite experiences was when my Introduction to Environmental Analysis course moved our entire class from Pitzer to Pomona’s Hive art center to complete a collective final environmental art project. It was definitely one of the coolest ways I’ve ever interacted with other 5C students, and other campuses!”
