Exploring Claremont & Beyond
The Pitzer campus is located in a quaint, tree-lined community that blends small-town charm with the advantages of belonging to a thriving metropolitan area
Located at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains, Claremont is a walkable town with a dynamic downtown, beautiful architectural styles, collegiate vibes, and a lush population of elms, oaks, and eucalyptus that’s earned it the nickname “City of Trees and PhDs.”
Location, Location, Location!
That familiar saying certainly applies to Pitzer and the rest of The Claremont Colleges.
Claremont is situated at the intersection of three counties – Los Angeles, Orange, and San Bernardino – that are important drivers of commerce and entertainment in the Southland.
With mountains to the north, beaches and Hollywood to the west, Joshua Tree and Palm Springs in the east, the Pitzer campus is within easy reach of the best that Southern California has to offer.
An Oasis in a Busy Region
Sunset Magazine and U.S. News & World Report call Claremont a “peaceful oasis” away from the bustle and busy pace of life in Los Angeles.
If you’re itching to get off campus, you’re within easy walking distance – or a scooter ride – of the other campuses of The Claremont Colleges as well as the shops, restaurants, arthouse theater, and nightspots of Claremont Village.
If you wish to range even farther, Southern California’s popular beaches, mountains, and concert and sports venues are not far away, either.
Whether you’re a foodie, a mountain biker, an artist, concertgoer or skier, there’s something for everyone in Claremont and beyond.
